What is counselling?

Counselling offers you a safe and confidential space for you to explore your experiences and feelings. Often we can fall into automatic patterns of behaviour that in time cease to serve us well.

Counselling sessions typically look at the impact of your unconscious and conscious thoughts, and behaviour, on your way of being. Counselling encourages you to examine your ways of relating to others, as well as your feelings. In time, counselling can raise your self-awareness, which can help you to see your situation more clearly and restore your ability to choose. It also helps you to think about how you get stuck, and therefore how you can help yourself to experiment with finding new solutions or new ways of facing and overcoming your difficulties.

Counselling can help with many things too numerous to list here but including:

Counselling takes place in a quiet and confidential space, on a one-to-one basis either online or in person. You will be provided with 50 minutes each week in which to talk about whatever you would like. You will be listened to with great care and attention, and over time, I will work with you to help you to think about yourself and your experiences. I am not there to advise or judge you. In time, you will hopefully build up trust in our therapeutic relationship and find yourself able to talk about the issues and feelings that are worrying you.
